2020 Spring-Summer
Desktop / iPod / Mobile / Figma
Clients from Australia contacted me with an idea to build an desktop extension that would enhance the user's shopping experience.
The main function would be to track drops in product prices and give a notification to the user.
Client requests
- Focus on basic screens (MVP).
- Base product features on quantitative marketing research client previously conducted
- Take females as target user
- Visuals - they wanted it to have the simplicity of google design.
I did
- Competitive analysis
- User research - interviews
- Personas
- Workflow
- Wireframes
- UI - mobile, desktop, iPad
- Library of elements
1. Competitive analysis
After exploring similar products on market, I concluded that there are gaps and chances for improvement in next categories:
Visuals- Most of the products were low in both UX and UI. They looked outdated and there was a missing element of “fun” while using them.
Technical abilities - There was only a certain range of products users could follow. Expanding the range of products could build a bigger group of users.
Responsive design- Apps were only adapted to be used as a desktop version. Explore the possibility to expand on other platforms?
2. User interviews
After exploring similar products on market , I wanted to understand people’s experiences, chalenges, opinions and needs. while shopping online. Moreover wanted to see their reactions on planned features.
Number of people -5
Age- 20 y.o - 63 y.o
Location- Europe
3. Personas
Personas are created based on:
1. Inteviews
2. Marketing research (provided by client)
3. Five personas Whitepaper Mastercard research
In general, interviews confirmed the need for a “follow” feature, as well as to automatically buy a product when it drops to a certain price, which was another desired feature clients thought of.
In addition, it would be useful to get a notification on a mobile phone when a product reaches a certain price. Shifting between websites to check the price seems like too much work. Therefore, having all in one place as well as instant notification would make it more convenient to manage the shopping process.
User flows I worked on
- Onboarding
- Save (link) product
- Purchase flow
- Smart follow -price fall-buy when
