Super Nanny

2017-2018

Mobile app concept design

Introducing The Super Nanny, a platform designed to bridge the gap between childcare providers and families across Europe. Unlike existing services limited to specific regions and primarily web-based, the goal is to revolutionize childcare access through a unique mobile solution. By aligning with user preferences for mobile technology, this project aims to offer an inclusive service accessible to the broader European network.

This comprehensive presentation showcases detailed personas, app workflow, user journeys, wireframes, and user interface screens, ensuring a holistic understanding of our innovative approach.

User research

To understand the needs of target users, I conducted user research, which involved contextual interviews with families residing in different European cities, as well as babysitters/nannies currently employed or seeking employment. The aim of these interviews was to gain insights into current work practices, as well as the needs and challenges encountered when seeking suitable caregivers or families.

Five distinct family profiles and four nanny profiles were developed from this research, serving as the basis for creating personas of target users, which were utilized throughout the design process.

User flow

Personas played a crucial role in envisioning typical user scenarios, guiding the creation of user flows tailored to meet their goals. Key user flows explored include:

For Families:

  1. Browsing and contacting a nanny.
  2. Processing salary payments.

For Nannies:

  1. Creating a service offer.
  2. Adding activities to the schedule.

UX Solutions

Nannies and babysitters view themselves not merely as individuals who spend time with children, but as enriching their lives with unique talents. Hence, the app is named "Super-Nanny", where nannies can showcase their skills as superpowers, setting them apart from others. This benefits parents too, facilitating the discovery of nannies with specialized abilities such as sign language fluency or botanical knowledge.

For optimal user experience, the homepage presents families with instant access to locally available nannies, complemented by search filters enabling tailored searches based on criteria like language proficiency and age preferences. Additionally, a star icon enables users to swiftly save preferred nannies to their "favorites" list.

Integrating Facebook connections enhances trust; profiles indicate mutual friends between families and nannies, addressing parental concerns.

Profile layouts are designed for efficient information scanning, presenting the most pertinent details for both families and nannies. Moreover, an instant messaging feature fosters direct communication between users.

Visual style

In crafting the visual style for the app, I drew inspiration from the desires expressed by babysitters and nannies during user interviews. They yearned to showcase their exceptional skills and feel uniquely valued. Embracing this sentiment, I infused the app with a touch of whimsy, granting users "superpowers" reminiscent of comic book characters. Illustrated personally. The goal is to add a playful charm but also empower users to feel truly extraordinary in their caregiving roles. On another hand, it would make families value each nanny as a special person that is more than just a "certified nanny".
